This is a hot dip galvanized DIN763 long link chain in carbon steel. DIN763 has a longer link than a short link chain, which makes it suit applications where the chain is passed through an eye, a ring or a fitting, and it is the chain commonly used with container fittings and for general securing work. Because the arrangements differ between customers, the link size, finished length and end fittings are set by your drawing or written requirement, and the chain is quoted against that.
Why hot dip galvanizing
This chain works outdoors, in salt air and around wet cargo, and it is handled constantly. Hot dip galvanizing puts a zinc coating over the finished chain, including the inside of the links and the cut ends, which is what gives the coating its service life in these conditions. It is the finish normally specified where the chain will be exposed for years rather than for a single trip.
