- Forming wire rope eyes, loops and terminations
A wire rope clip (also called a U-bolt clamp) is used to form an eye or loop in wire rope or to join two ropes. It clamps the rope between a U-bolt and a saddle, holding the termination under load. Two types are supplied: the US type drop forged clip and the DIN 741 malleable clip.
Typical Applications
Used to make wire rope eyes, loops, slings and terminations, and for guy lines and general rigging. Clips should be fitted in the correct number and spacing for the rope diameter, with the saddle on the load-bearing side, and re-tightened after the rope has been loaded.
Material and Surface Finish
US type clips are drop forged steel; DIN 741 clips are malleable iron. Both are supplied in the natural finish, with galvanized versions available on request.
Sizes and Specifications
US type clips are available from 1/8 in to 3-1/2 in. DIN 741 clips are available from 3 mm to 40 mm. Key figures are listed in the specifications on this page; the full dimension table is available on request.
