A wire rope thimble is a metal liner fitted inside a wire rope eye or spliced loop. It holds the eye open at a controlled radius and protects the rope from abrasion where it bears against a shackle, hook or pin.
Typical Applications
Used in wire rope slings, guy lines, mooring and rigging terminations. Fitting a thimble prevents the rope from being crushed or worn at the eye and gives a more predictable strength in the termination. Choose the thimble to match the rope diameter and the groove width.
Material and Surface Finish
Carbon steel, supplied in the natural finish; galvanized and stainless steel versions are available on request.
