What Is Duplex Coating?

A duplex coating is a two-layer protection system:
  1. Base layer: Hot dip galvanized — the chain is immersed in molten zinc at approximately 450°C, forming a thick zinc-iron alloy coating (40–90 microns) that provides decades of corrosion protection.
  1. Top layer: Electro galvanized — a thinner (5–15 microns), bright, smooth zinc layer is electroplated over the hot dip base at room temperature.
The result is a composite coating that combines the durability of hot dip galvanizing with the appearance and smoothness of electro galvanizing.



How the Duplex Coating Process Works

Step 1: Hot Dip Galvanizing (The Foundation)

The chain first undergoes a complete hot dip galvanizing process:
