DIN 766 is the German standard for calibrated short link steel chain for general purpose use. The links are short and evenly sized so the chain runs smoothly over sheaves and sits squarely in hooks and shackles.

Typical uses include general purpose and marine work such as mooring and anchoring lines, and barrier or decorative chain. DIN 766 is not a grade-marked lifting chain, so it should not be used for overhead lifting where a certified lifting chain is required.
Material and Surface Finish

What is DIN 766 chain used for?

What sizes do you supply?

What is the difference between DIN 766 and grade 80 chain?
DIN 766 is a general purpose calibrated chain specified by link dimensions. Grade 80 is a heat-treated lifting chain specified by working load. If you need to lift overhead, choose the grade 80 or grade 100 chain rather than DIN 766.
What finishes are available?
The standard finish is zinc plated. For wetter or more exposed sites a heavier galvanized finish is worth considering, and plastic powder coating is used where a colour is wanted. Tell us where the chain will be used and we will recommend the finish.
